Tony Berglund, Kennel Go Solid, contacted us because he wanted to manufacture "the ultimate harness" for IGP and it would have the following properties:
Ergonomically correct without blocking the mobility of the elbow
Provide protection for younger and inexperienced dogs so they don't get thrown around when they throw themselves at the helper.
Adjustable so that it can be used by young dogs as well as adults.
Use durable buckles that won't break when it's cold or get hit, etc.
After a few evenings of discussions, testing and then long-term testing by Tony, we have now come up with a product we believe in. There is a choice you have to make. Either metal buckles or plastic buckles.
The metal buckles are in the form of quick release buckles and have very high durability and are also used in climbing, among other things. But these buckles cost almost 10 times more than plastic buckles and thus there is a fairly significant price difference on the harness that uses 4 buckles.
The plastic buckles we use are similar to the others on the market, they become more brittle at sub-zero temperatures and can break if they get hit.
